I'm determined.

I'm a procrastinator.  I slack off.  I let great opportunities slip by.  And it has really got to end.

One day not too long ago I was going through old messages and found many emails from other artists wanting to collaborate, shop owners asking about selling in their shops, gallery coordinators offering shows, editors of well known design blogs, the list goes on. And I didn't respond to them!  Okay, so I guess there were one or two I responded to, but then never followed up on. I mean really, I could kick myself if it were physically possible!

Why do I do this?  I would love to be able to live off my photography if I could, and these were means to that end, I frustrate myself beyond belief sometimes!

But that's it. It's stopping now.

I'm obsessed with...

fabric and paper flowers.I love the idea of re-using other items to make them. I love the rough edges, the slightly unfinished look.

My printer and I are finally friends!

I feel like this is a completely silly thing to blog about, but I'm just so excited! After two and a half years I think my printer and I are finally on the same page. There was much rejoicing last night, continuing this morning when I took a good look at my prints from yesterday/last night in natural light. Aside from a small handful, they all looked perfect!

What? you ask, don't all your prints always look perfect?

Well, no. I've been having constant problems getting the colors just right. For the longest time I was using photoshop to color correct the crap out of all my photos: brightening like crazy, adding so much cyan it looked like my printer had an algae problem. And if I was lucky, the end result would be passable, but still not quite what I wanted.

I don't want to reveal where my stupidity lay, because people who have more experience printing will think I'm a fool for what I was doing, and some of you will think me a fool for what I'm doing now (or not doing, as the case may be). But as I've always thought, it doesn't matter what sort of equipment you're using, it's what you do with it that matters. And if the end result is what you envisioned, well who can argue with that?

Anyway, this is one photo that I printed for the first time, and I'm so excited with how well it printed. Really soft, with muted colors. I love it.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

Quotations

The quotations series is finally complete! Well, maybe. I still have a few other photos that follow the same theme, but these are my favorites, and considering it took 3 years or so to post any more than the "spoon" photo, the series may stop here. But I think it looks lovely!

Art Star Craft Bazaar 2010

Once again I'll have a booth at the Art Star Craft Bazaar! This year it's a few weeks early... May 15 & 16, but at the usual location: Penn's Landing in Philadelphia. I love getting out there and meeting other artists and meeting people who buy my work face to face! I'm so looking forward to it this year... hope to see you there!
