I feel like this is a completely silly thing to blog about, but I'm just so excited! After two and a half years I think my printer and I are finally on the same page. There was much rejoicing last night, continuing this morning when I took a good look at my prints from yesterday/last night in natural light. Aside from a small handful, they all looked perfect!
What? you ask, don't all your prints always look perfect?
Well, no. I've been having constant problems getting the colors just right. For the longest time I was using photoshop to color correct the crap out of all my photos: brightening like crazy, adding so much cyan it looked like my printer had an algae problem. And if I was lucky, the end result would be passable, but still not quite what I wanted.
I don't want to reveal where my stupidity lay, because people who have more experience printing will think I'm a fool for what I was doing, and some of you will think me a fool for what I'm doing now (or not doing, as the case may be). But as I've always thought, it doesn't matter what sort of equipment you're using, it's what you do with it that matters. And if the end result is what you envisioned, well who can argue with that?
Anyway, this is one photo that I printed for the first time, and I'm so excited with how well it printed. Really soft, with muted colors. I love it.
Hope you're having a good weekend!

Quotations
The quotations series is finally complete! Well, maybe. I still have a few other photos that follow the same theme, but these are my favorites, and considering it took 3 years or so to post any more than the "spoon" photo, the series may stop here. But I think it looks lovely!

The web of our life is of a mingled yarn
I'd been wanting to do a series of yarn photos for a while now, but didn't have the motivation, until earlier this week I had a request. It was only for one photo, so I guess I went a little overboard by doing a series of six. I know I'm not doing anything groundbreaking, but I'm really happy with the results! And it's been a while since I've worked on anything in a serious way. I'm feeling good about these.

Too long.
Been a long time! I should really try to keep up with this... it's just one of the many things on my "Things I should keep up with" list.
Saw Iron and Wine... or really, just Sam Beam
Did a few Polaroid Transfers

Tried out some Fuji FP-100C

Other than that, things have been going well. Outside of work and all...
I'll try to post more often.
Love you!

the old apartment
Been feeling a little nostalgic for my old apartment. It was on the second floor of an old farmhouse, with most of the out-buildings still standing, so naturally there were lots of photo opportunities. The house itself was located in a "quaint" little town called Berryville (see the church on the left at the very top of the page? My place was directly across the street. The town had 2 stop lights and a population of about 3000, but there were at least 10 churches. From my apartment I could see ... or hear... no less than 4 of them.)
I've also been needing to get working on photos again... so I indulged my nostalgia and took care of the artsy needs at the same time. These here photos are the result. All are were taken in, around, or near my apartment in Virginia... enjoy!
The knocker on the front door of the downstairs apartment. Yup, it says Warner! Thought this would look good as an album cover...
Various photogenic cats who resided with us at one time or another... Mr. Paddington "Cat" Paws, Linus, and Warner.

One of my best friends and my former roomie. I think she hates this photo and I'm sure she'll kill me if she ever sees it...

The bulb and the pot were hanging out on the shed from the day I moved in until the day I moved out. And call me a dork, but I hope they're still there.
Holy crap, I loved when the weather finally got warm enough to open the windows. I'd open both in my room and still between them and read... That's one of the things I miss the most.
